ANNOUNCING  FIRST FOUR of JET's  2008-2009 FIVE SHOW SEASON

Chapter Two by Neil Simon  September 2 through 28, 2008

It’s not supposed to happen twice in your life, but it can. . . .

Nothing beats Neil!  This romantic comedy follows the story of two people (one a widower, the other a divorcee) who have recently lost their loves.  Come for an evening of witty repartee and stay for the heartwarming “happily ever after”

Collected Stories by Donald Margulies  October 28 through November 23, 2008

When a condescending, established writer takes on an adoring protégé, their relationship evolves with unexpected twists and turns.  This engaging and fascinating story raises provocative questions about loyalty, ethics and friendship.  It will have you discussing the play’s ending long after you’ve left the theater.

Two by Two music by Richard Rogers, lyrics by Martin Charnin  - December 9, 2008 through January 4, 2009

A musical to make your Rabbi chuckle! This is a musical comedy you won’t want to miss! You’ve never seen the tale of Noah’s Ark like this.  Bring the entire family.

Halpern and Johnson by Lionel Goldstein  -- February 17 through March 15, 2009

This poignant comedy-drama examines the relationship of two men, who couldn’t be more different from each other, yet who find something very much in common.  In an unusual setting, these two discover that what brings them together is far stronger than what keeps them apart.

OY!

By Rich Orloff
Directed by Mary Bremer

It's good to end the season with a
production that left 'em all laughing.
Oy did it!

Playwright Richard Orloff’s marvelously funny, skewed (but not untrue) perspective on life, is expressed in a dozen playlets that will strike a note of recognition and make us laugh at ourselves.

Women’s Minyan
This powerful drama had audiences
talking about it LONG AFTER THEY SAW IT!

By Naomi Ragen
Directed by Shauna Kanter

In this intense, brilliant drama, a court of  orthodox men rules that a mother of 12, who fled her abusive husband, is never to see her children again. Desperate, she convinces a reluctant group of angry, fear-filled women to form a minyan and render their own judgment.   Women's Minyan ran for five years in Israel to 300,000 theatergoers, with 450 sold out performances.

Saying Kaddish with My Sister
Was a well received comedy
 Written by Alison Luterman
 Directed by Nicholas Calanni
Be prepared for laughs and surprises from this extraordinarily creative and original play. In this world premier, of Alison Luterman’s play, a mother returns from heaven to try to get her two grown daughters to give up their childhood sibling rivalry and “Stop fighting!”
This play was mounted at the enthusiastic request
of JET’s staged reading audiences.

They’re Playing
Our Song
!

Book by Neil Simon
Music and Lyrics by
Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager

Directed by Harold Jurkiewicz

Audiences laughed as they rode the
roller coaster of this musical based on
the unlikely attraction between
Marvin Hamlisch and Carole Bayer Sager.
Their songs were woven throughout the play,
as was the delightful humor of Neil Simon.
Sponsored by The Chrysler Foundation

Audiences and the press raved that "Old Wicked Songs" was one of JET's best!

Pit an arrogant, frustrated 25 year old pianist against a
cantankerous, sharp-witted, older Austrian vocal coach and sparks fly.
This unlikely pair takes us on an unpredictable journey into identity,
history, and the secrets of creating passionate art-- all woven together
with the wonderful music of Schumann, performed live on stage.
